Beampunk
A downloadable game
Beampunk packs a fully-fledged action roguelite into tiny ten-minute sessions.
Jump from system to system and charge your giant laser cannon to fight off a fleet of invading ships. The better you get at the acrobatic crank-piloted combat, the closer you'll get to reaching Earth and stopping them for good.

Each run shuffles the encounters and upgrades again for a new challenge -- and over time you'll unlock new gear to change up your playstyle in future attempts.
Will lovable rogue Beampunk manage to save humanity? And then will the Terran Empire chill out a bit about all the alleged smuggling?
🟨 Beampunk is also on the Playdate Catalog. We'll keep itch up to date in every way possible, but Catalog-exclusive features like scoreboards may appear in future.
💿 You can get the soundtrack on Bandcamp!

Pretty cool!
So lovely to read, thank you! This demo's getting a bit out of date now and we hope to have lots of new stuff to share soon.
This is honestly AMAZING, I love the way this is coming along.
I do think ONLY having the beam is a little hard, we should have a pew pew too!!
Otherwise, I love this. You should join the PD discord and get some feedback from folx in there :)
That's very kind thank you!! We're hoping to put out an updated build soonish and will probably start trying to reach out in search of more players then.
Well I would absolutely love to playtest more! Please do keep me in mind :)
This thing is really coming along well! Also, great job with the page design!
Thanks man!!
Hi just played the demo.
I think it is an interesseting approach that you cannot thrust and shoot at the same time. Beating the demo was fun. My strat was to get some movement momentum and then turn and shoot. Often ist shoot where I think enemies where off screen Is it intentional that you only see the marker of an enemy off sreen for a short time?
The upgrade where fun and different enemies needed different movement. That ist all very good for a game at that status of its development phase.
I recommend to use the tag playdate so people can find the game easier and post it in the playdate Reddit.
Thanks so much for taking the time to play and comment! We hid the arrows while you’re charging in an attempt to make offscreen ‘sniping’ tougher, but maybe it’s a confusing behaviour. That’s a great call re tagging as ‘playdate’…!
